This has been researched and written by Alan Horder (of Leicester). The bracket numbers after names refer to the generation of that name. The generation of Benjamin Horder is taken to be number 1
3. g125 Benjamin (2) Horder (Benjamin (1)2) [3gF;4gF;5gF] was born, 1797. Benjamin died 1853 (1853 quarter 4, Bermondsey, folio 1d page 96) in Bermondsey, at 56 years of age. He married g008 Sarah Pettit [3gM;4gM;5gM] in St Saviour, Southwark, 10 September 1827. Sarah was born about 1811. At 27 years of age Sarah became the mother of John Horder in Bermondsey, St Mary Magadalene, 1838. At 41 years of age Benjarnin became the father of John Horder in Berrnondsey, St Mary Magadalene, 1838. In 1841 they were living at 8 Little George St. Occupation tanner. This line has been conjectured; no firm evidence has been found for it.

In 1841 he was living at little George Street, Bermondsey. John died 1904 (1904 quarter 3, St. Olave, folio 1d page 129) in St Olave, at 66 years of age. He married g031 Charlotte Jane Riddle [2gM;3gM;4gM] in 1866 (3rd. quarter folio 1d page 74) in Bermondsey. In the 1871 (census), they were living at 28 Elim? Street, Bermondsey. With them were Charlotte's two brothers; John Riddle, born 1851, a mailhouseman, and Thomas Riddle, born 1854, a clerk at hide broker.
Charlotte was born in Bermondsey, 1843 (1844 quarter 2, Bermondsey, folio 4d page 30). Charlotte died 1904 (1904 quarter 3, St. Olave, folio 1d page 127) in St Olave, at 61 years of age. At 24 years of age Charlotte became the mother of Charlotte Harriet Horder in Bermondsey, 1867. At 26 years of age Charlotte became the mother of Mary Ann Horder in Bermondsey, 1869. At 28 years of age Charlotte became the mother of Clara Horder in St Olave, 1871. At 30 years of age Charlotte became the mother of John Horder in St Olave, 1873. At 31 years of age Charlotte became the mother of Alice Horder in St Olave, 1874. At 34 years of age Charlotte became the mother of Benjamin Thomas Horder in St Olave, 1877. At 36 years of age Charlotte became the mother of Elizabeth Horder 1879. At 38 years of age Charlotte became the mother of Alfred Horder in St Olave, 1881. At 41 years of age Charlotte became the mother of Annie Horder in St Olave, 1884. At 44 years of age Charlotte became the mother of Winifred Horder in St Olave, 1887.
At 29 years of age John became the father of Charlotte Harriet Horder in Bermondsey, 1867. At 31 years of age John became the father of Mary Ann Horder in Bermondsey, 1869. At 33 years of age John became the father of Clara Horder in St Olave, 1871. At 35 years of age John became the father of John Horder in St Olave, 1873. At 36 years of age John became the father of Alice Horder in St Olave, 1874. At 39 years of age John became the father of Benjamin Thomas Horder in St Olave, 1877. At 41 years of age John became the father of Elizabeth Horder 1879. At 43 years of age John became the father of Alfred Horder in St Olave, 1881. At 46 years of age John became the father of Annie Horder in St Olave, 1884. At 49 years of age John became the father of Winifred Horder in St Olave, 1887. In 1881 living at 8 Elim Street, Bermondsey. Occupation Tanner.

John Horder and Charlotte Jane Riddle had the following family:

  1. g032 Charlotte Harriet(4) Horder [gA;2gA;3gA] was born in Bermondsey, 1867 (1867 quarter 3, Bermondsey, folio 1d page 111). In the 1871 census, she was living at 25 Elim Street, Bermondsey. In 1911 she was a hatter's machinist, lodging at 33 Knowle Road, Brixton S.W. Charlotte died 1957 (1957 quarter 3, Southwark, folio 5d page 443) in Southwark, at 90 years of age.
  2. g033 Mary Ann Horder [gA;2gA;3gA] was born in Bermondsey, 1869 (1869 quarter 3, Bermondsey, folio 1d page 97). In the 1871 census, she was living at 25 Elim Street, Bermondsey, and in the 1881 census, she was living at 8 Elim Street, Bermondsey. In 1901 she was a cook, living at 4 Upper Brook Street, Bermondsey. Mary died 1956 in Newton Abbot, at 87 years of age. Believed to have been a spinster.
  3. g034 Clara Horder [gA;2gA;3gA] was born in St Olave Southwark, 1871 (4th. quarter, St. Olave, folio 1d page 200). In the 1881 census, she was living at 8 Elim Street, Bermondsey. In 1901 she was living at South Redlands, London Road, Reigate. She was a cook. Clara died 1956 (1956 quarter 1, Camberwell, folio 5c page 281) in Camberwell, at 85 years of age. (The official records name her as Horden).
  4. g183 John Horder [gU;2gU;3gU] was born in St Olave Southwark, in 1873 (1st. quarter folio 1d page 266) and died 1940. In the 1881 census, he was living at 8 Elim Street, Bermondsey, and in the 1891 census, he was living at 10 B?down Street, Horselydown.
  5. g036 Alice Horder [gA;2gA;3gA] was born in St Olave Southwark, 1874 (4th. quarter folio 1d page 271). In the 1881 census, she was living at 8 Elim Street, Bermondsey. In the 1891 (census), she is a housemaid in Francis Stores, Nursery Road, Lambeth. She married g037 George Thomas Davis [gU;2gU;3gU] in Marylebone, 1898 (3rd. quarter folio 1a page 1292). In 1901 she was living at 10 Cross Lances Road Isleworth.
  6. g041 Benjamin Thomas Horder [gU;2gU;3gU] was born in St Olave Southwark, 1877 (1st. quarter, St. Olave, folio 1d page 232). In the 1881 census, he was living at 8 Elim Street, Bermondsey, and in the 1891 census, he was living at 10 B?down Street, Horselydown. Benjamin died 1955 (2nd. quarter folio 5d page 477) in Southwark, at 78 years of age.
  7. g042 Elizabeth Hayward (neé Horder) [gA;2gA;3gA] was born in St Olave Southwark, 1879 (2nd. quarter folio 1d page 212). In the 1881 census, she was living at 8 Elim Street, Bermondsey, and in the 1891 census, she was living at 10 B?down Street, Horselydown. She married g231 George Hayward [gU;2gU;3gU] in Croydon, 1897 (4th. quarter folio 2a page 622).
  8. g038 Alfred Horder [gU;2gU;3gU] was born in St Olave, 1881 (4th. quarter folio 1d page 208). In the 1891 census, he was living at 10 B?down Street, Horselydown.
  9. g039 Annie Horder [gA;2gA;3gA] was born in St Olave Southwark, on 6th April 1884 (2nd. quarter folio 1d page 228). In the 1891 census, she was living at 10 B?down Street, Horselydown. Annie died 1973 (1973 quarter 2, Surrey Mid E, folio 5g page 146) in Surrey Mid E, at 89 years of age.
  10. g040 Winifred Horder [gA;2gA;3gA] was born in St Olave Southwark, on 11th July 1887 (3rd. quarter folio 1d page 195). In the 1891 census, she was living at 10 B?down Street, Horselydown. Winifred died 1970 (1970 quarter 1, Surrey Mid E, folio 5g page 135) in Surrey Mid E, at 83 years of age.
