Thomas Garner
j01 Thomas Garner [gF;2gF;3gF] was born on 7 August 1882 (1882 quarter 3, Stoke upon Trent, folio 6b page 193) in Longton and died 13 May 1960 (1960 quarter 2, Worksop, folio 3c page 454). He was living at Scotia Bank, Burslem, and married j02 Lizzie Rhead on 17/2/1901 (1901 quarter 2, Wolstanton, folio 6b page 145) at the age of 19 years at the parish church in the parish of Christ Church, Tunstall, Staffordshire. In 1911 he was living at Northgate, Tickhill. He had 3 sons and 3 daughters. His occupation was a colliery winding engineer - lowering and raising the cages down the mine. He was a noted musician, playing the cornet in works brass bands, but mainly in Salvation Army bands. He moved to Langold Notts in January, 1923, and assisted in the sinking of Firbeck Main Colliery. He retired in 1945.

Lizzie Garner (née Rhead)
j02 Lizzie Garner (née Rhead) [gM;2gM;3gM] was daughter of John and Mary Rhead and was born on 11 February 1879 (1st. quarter folio 6b page 134) in Tunstall (Wolstanton) and died 27 January 1959 (1959 quarter 1, Worksop, folio 3c page 631). She was living at 34 King Street, Tunstall and married j01 Thomas Garner on 17/2/1901 (1st. quarter folio 6b page 145) (Wolstanton) at the age of 22 years at the parish church in the parish of Christ Church, Tunstall, Staffordshire. In 1901 she was living at Scotia Banks. She had 3 sons and 3 daughters. In 1911 she was living at Northgate, Tickhill.
Lizzie Garner
j03 Lizzie Garner [A;gA;2gA] was born 19 September 1901 (4th. quarter folio 6b page 135) in Wolstanton, and died 5 February 1979 (1979 quarter 1, Worksop, folio 8 page 1668) aged 77years. She was eldest daughter of Thomas and Lizzie Garner. In 1911 she was living at Northgate, Tickhill.
James Garner
j05 James Garner [U;gU;2gU] was the middle son of Thomas and Lizzie Garner. He was born on 31 October 1911 (1911 quarter 4, Doncaster, folio 9c page 1622). He died on 5 August 1973 (1973 quarter 3, Doncaster, folio 2b page 786). He was musical and played the accordian. In 1947 (1947 quarter 4, Doncaster, folio 2b page 895) he married j09 Ethel Selwood. (The official record shows Selwood and Selway).
